In the field of research I particularly focus on artificial joint replacement. In the course of development projects in co-operation with several Austrian, German and Swiss clinics, a new artificial hip joint Alloclassic^® Variall™ has been developed together with Zimmer Germany GmbH. The advantages of this titanium-made joint include cementless fixation on the one hand and the possibility of combining different tribological pairings on the other. Metal, ceramic or a newly developed polyethylene are available as main materials for this product.

Concerning artificial knee joint replacements we also have been closely co-operating with Zimmer. Through that, we participate in a multicentric European knee joint study for the clinical trial of the NexGen™ implant.
